چکیده
A surface network is a topological data structure formed by set of thalwegs and ridges on digital terrain model. Its computation relies the detection saddles terrain. Hence, methods must guarantee enough are detected but also that no improper conflicts between created, leading to an inconsistent network. This paper presents new approach maximizes number ensures this consistency for high-resolution models represented raster grid. The grid triangulated in order preserve facilitate thalweg ridge computation. It does not require any user parameter lines remain aligned with triangulation edges, avoiding numerical errors. method includes coherent partitioning into hills dales. case study shows can be achieved reasonable time hence applied analysis large models.

Automatic Extraction of Terrain Skeleton Lines from Digital Elevation Models
Terrain skeleton lines, among the most significant elements of topographical maps, are the valley lines that connect the deepest points of valleys, and the ridge lines that connect the highest points of ridges. In order to obtain correct and enough information about land forms from a topographical map, skeleton lines have to be considered and portrayed together with contours. Their extraction h...
متن کاملEvaluation of high resolution digital surface models for single tree extraction approaches in mixed forests
High resolution digital elevation models (DEM) are utilized in automatic extraction of single-trees in mixed forests. In this paper the digital surface models (DSM) provided from aerial images with resolutions of 8 cm and 20 cm and airborne laser scanning ALS data are investigated. The results showed a relative good representation of the tree crowns even in image-based DSM. However, increasing ...
متن کاملA Robust Algorithm for Estimating Digital Terrain Models from Digital Surface Models in Dense Urban Areas
This paper describes an algorithm in order to derive DTMs (Digital Terrain Models) from correlation DSMs (Digital Surface Models) and above-ground (buildings and vegetation) masks in dense urban areas. Among all the methods found in literature, the Elastic Grid method shows a good capability to reconstruct the topographic surface. This method consists in interpolating height values under above-...
متن کاملHigh-resolution Satellite Imaging for Digital Surface Models
Elevation information is an important component of any geospatial database. It is imperative for applications such as topographic mapping, spatial and temporal change detection, feature extraction and visualisation. Although elevation data may in cases be purchasable from government agencies, the availability of alternative sources of data, such as space imagery, coupled with increased user con...
متن کاملReal-Time Terrain Surface Extraction at Variable Resolution
Multiresolution terrain models allow the extraction of the surface at different levels of details. Real terrain data is large enough to prevent from real-time walk-through at a reasonable level of detail. Moreover, a coarse view of a terrain may not attend some application requirements. Therefore extracting the surface at variable resolution may offer impressive good-looking views if, for insta...
